If you know the direction of the main roads you can find your way back to them eventually and what you discover along the way is part of the fun. Even a car's GPS system can be a little iffy. Have a good paper map because there are a lot of areas in the area north of Walla Walla that have no cell reception. I am partial to Lyons Ferry but maybe because my grandma's aunt, Olive Lyons, ran the ferry across the Snake River and my grandma told many stories of spending time there as a young girl with her aunt. I think the Snake River in that area is beautiful in its own way. There are lots of grain elevators and barns to photograph in that area. Maybe drive on Highway 124 on your way to Palouse Falls and go north at Clyde, then back down through Dayton and Waitsburg to Walla Walla. There are a lot more of those than grapes. Also, think about photographing the wheat fields. Answer: Palouse Falls is the opposite direction from the Hanford Reach so I don't think that would be a great combination.
